I can’t quite believe it’s almost the end of the year. Snow is gently falling past my window, the log fire is glowing and a contented dog is at my feet after our romp in the woods. I am on day 5 of a juice fast and feeling amazing Who said you can’t not only stay raw, but fast in a cold climate! I’ve been full of energy, my focus clearer than ever, my skin feels softer and looks clearer and i notice my eyes start to sparkle more as the days go by. I have no set length of time that i am doing it for, just listening to my body and what feels right. I like to do a fast & cleanse at least once a year in order for my body to rest and recharge, what better time to do it but the lead up to Christmas! Finding a way of generating internal warmth can be essential in low temperatures, so i make myself cups of tea made from hot water, lemon juice, cayenne pepper and maple syrup. It’s delicious and makes you feel like you are glowing from inside out, as well as being a great detoxifier and blood pressure regulator.

After Christmas many need help to get back on track with their diet and inspiration for the coming year, so i have put together a Winter Wellness Weekend together with Shazzie (the UK’s top Raw Food Speaker & author) who will be celebrating her Birthday with us at the launch of idetoxholidays.com my new company. IDetox Holidays is my new venture into retreats based in natural health, raw foods, detoxification and weightloss. Our first retreat is 21/22/23rd January 2011.

This year has been about stepping back into my true self and finding the most divine love in nature. My daily ritual involves walking in the woods next to my house and meditating in a tree i have named the “manifestation” tree. I have loved trees since i was a child and remember coming across a book in a antique book store with a poem by Joyce Kilmer when i was seven years old, that really struck a chord with me….

I think that I shall never see

A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest

Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,

And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear

A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;

Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,

But only God can make a tree.

I still have that book, called “one thousand beautiful things”, with my childlike hand writing in the front saying “the tree poem, page 40″!!

In the manifestation tree, i give thanks for all the beautiful things manifesting in my life….and hey presto….they manifest! One long held vision of mine has been to create a community, where living ethically, sustainably and self sufficiently are a way of life, with like minded folk. It’s in the early stages, but plans are in action to do just this and i am in the process of searching for the right place to create the vision. Watch this space!

The monthly potlucks have been amazing with friends coming from near and as far as 5 hours away to be here….The delicious recipes just keep getting better and better with a creative mixture of dishes to feast on. In June the weekend of the 19th/20th we have two days of events, with a Foraging for wild Edibles Class with Robin Harford of Eatweeds.co.uk, followed by our harvest lunch, and the monthly potluck on the Sunday. Again in July on the 3rd is a class with Melanie, a master herbalist, who will be guiding us on a wild herb walk, followed by a class in how to make your own raw beauty products…And the weekend of the 10th/11th July, the fabulous Lisa Simpson will be here teaching a class in the “Raw Garden Party” on the Saturday, followed by the potluck on the Sunday…Book your places now as they are filling up fast!! (see classes page for links & more info). B&B available on the B&B page.

At sunset, one hour before the sun sets, i meditate using an ancient practice called “Sungazing” ….the sun is the biggest source of energy to this planet, absorbing its light and energy is a powerful practice. You can hear all about the benefits of sungazing from HRM on Youtube….What better way to become light

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.’ We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Love and sunbeams to you all. Jenny Yemaya. xx

Robin Harford of Eat Weeds UK will leading us on a foraging foray in field and on the banks of the estuary, to collect what mother nature has to offer in terms of free, wild, edible plants. After a 3 hour walk we will return to Hill Cottage to prepare lunch from our wild gatherings. In June the banks of the estuary are the best source of wild edibles, with delicacies such as Samphire to sample. Robin is the UK’s leading expert on wild edible foraging and wild plant identification, here is one of the testimonials from his class:

“Wild foods pointed out and carefully described by Robin, combined with histories or anecdotes lend more than charm to a day in the countryside. Confidence increases as he takes one through a meadow bursting with hitherto undiscovered treasures. The meal which sometimes follows is prepared from the bounty collected and prepared by all—a feast of fresh and vibrant salads, hearty soups, pickles and more. The next day I continued to feel satiated—and not just on the food. I felt a new burst of energy, such as I have never had with frozen foods or supermarket veg. Find out for yourself.” – A. R. Korula, PhD

Space is limited, so advance booking is essential. The walk will begin at 10am and the day finishes after lunch. The price for the class including lunch is £45pp. Please contact me to reserve your place.

Usually i start the day by a walk in the woods foraging for wild edible plants to bring home and add to my green juice…But today is Sunday, a day of rest and a good day to treat myself to a taste of my new breakfast creation fresh out of the dehydrator…Rawberrielicious pancakes with cashew cream….What a treat! Made from ground flax seeds, carrots, apples, raisins, mixed spice and maple syrup, they are also good for you and full of Omega’s, nutrients & vitamins…So you needn’t feel guilty!

Now it’s time to go off to the woods…The bluebells are just starting to come out and the wildflower meadow is full of cowslips, so beautiful…..

I will be releasing dates soon for this years “Foraging for Wild Raw Edibles Class” and “Wild Herbal Class for Natural Beauty”…Both classes with be a combination of foraging in the wild for edible raw wild plants that can be used for raw food dishes and juices and herbs for skin and body preparations.

I hope you can join us at the next Potluck on May 16th, where we will take a wild walk in the woods after lunch to see the bluebells.

I will be giving a Free Talk at The Harmony Center in Walpole on Thursday 20th May on Raw Living Foods and detoxing your Life.

On a more personal note, my eldest brother has now been raw for 2 weeks and has lost 2kg and is intent on healing his diabetes naturally through diet. He and his family are having a lot of fun researching information and trying out new recipes in their dehydrator. His colleagues are asking what the “green stuff” is that he takes to work each day…and he works in one of the Big Pharma companies in Switzerland!! My dream is that in some small way, by him healing himself naturally through raw vegan foods, that he can have some impact on a corporation that for far too long has dictated the “magic pill” for all disease, but never actually got to the root cause or cure.

April 25th is “Reversing Diabetes Action Day”, Dr Gabriel Cousens who runs The Tree of Life Center in Arizona who specialize in reversing diabetes on a raw vegan diet in 30 days…is giving a special offer on his life changing DVD’s with 50% off unti April 30th…so check out this deal and send it to someone you care about….

Yesterday was my 2nd Potluck…It was a beautiful sunny day and the first chance to eat lunch in the garden, absolute bliss! People came from as far away as Chester & Bedford with amazingly creative raw delights to share. After lunch we walked in the nearby woods and caught up with a long overdue dose of vitamin D in the sunshine amidst a wildflower meadow. We are talking about making the next potluck on May 16th a camping potluck in the meadow adjacent to the house and woods…how much more fun can we have?!!

Other new developments in the past week are discussions on organizing a workshop class, Foraging for wild edible plants and then preparing them in raw vegan dishes…dates to come soon. This area of Suffolk is abundant in hedgerow plants, fungi & wild flowers and on the banks of the estuary it will soon be Samphire (seaweed) harvesting time…delish!! So watch this space for updates.

On Tuesday 20th April i will be showcasing my Wild Dolphin Trips www.rawdolphins.com at a vegan ladies indulgence dinner in Norwich at Pulse Restaurant http://pulsecafebar.co.uk/events-and-offers

My next Raw Vegan Food Class is on May 22nd 11-4pm, £95 inclusive of three course lunch and ample tasters…This is one food class you will not go away hungry from! Places are filling up fast, so be sure to let me know soon as space is limited.

On a more personal note, i am delighted that both my parents and my eldest brother who were all suffering from diabetes and disease are now on the path to self healing through raw living foods. This is the best present ever for me and verification that no matter how different you may feel from friends and family at times…That if you continue to shine and radiate good health, love and advice…They will eventually hear you and miracles will start to flow

This has been my first winter back in the UK after living in Florida all last year…It was certainly a winter to come back to, the worst one in 30 years!! But then i never do anything by halves!! Thank God/Goddess for my scottie dog Ralph who every day come rain, snow or shine has me out and walking in the fresh air. In climates such as these northern european ones it is so important to get any small dose we can of vitamin D from sunlight…I found myself even when snow was on the ground, finding a place out of the wind on the beach and lying in the suns rays for a few minutes whenever i could. Now that i have moved to my new/old house by the woods i spend a few minutes each day sitting in an old tree that offers a throne like seat, ideal for meditating while in the suns stare…Those few minutes are the best part of each day for me…nothing but the sound of the wind in the trees and the sun on my face..pure bliss.

This is one of my house plants that is bursting forth with orange trumpet like blooms..It’s name is Clivia and is a welcome burst of color at this time of year in the house with the flowers lasting more than a month. During the summer the pot can stand outside, but for now it sits in my entrance hall.

Meanwhile, I’m working on the retreats for this years raw dolphin trips in the Bahamas….There is something about when a dolphin swims beside you in total synchronicity, eye to eye, like they are reading deep into your soul…Totally in the moment as one species to another connects in a space of timelessness…This moment is the closest thing to divine bliss i have ever encountered….And on dark winter days i just have to look at my dolphin photos to take me right back to that place of connectedness & calm.
